Military Honey and your doctor: who should check first

Military Honey is a dietary supplement, not a treatment for erectile dysfunction, low testosterone or any other condition, and it does not replace a medicine you take. Speak to your doctor before the first gummy if any of these apply to you:

• Nitrates or blood-pressure medicine. You take a nitrate for chest pain, such as nitroglycerin, an erectile dysfunction medicine or any drug for blood pressure. Your doctor should know about every supplement you add.
• A heart condition. Memorial Sloan Kettering advises people with heart disease to avoid horny goat weed, one of the four herbs on this label (Memorial Sloan Kettering, Epimedium).
• New erection problems. Erectile dysfunction can be a sign of another health problem, including heart and blood-vessel disease and high blood pressure, so a change deserves a check-up in its own right (NIDDK, symptoms and causes of ED; MedlinePlus, erectile dysfunction).
• Other vitamin D, kidney stones or high calcium. One gummy gives 84 mcg of vitamin D3 against an adult upper limit of 100 mcg a day from all sources (NIH Office of Dietary Supplements).
• Diabetes medicine or pregnancy. Fenugreek may lower blood sugar at large doses and is not advised in pregnancy above food amounts (NCCIH, fenugreek).

Erection or drive problems and low energy that is new or unexplained are medical questions first, so see your clinician before any supplement, above all if you take heart, blood-pressure, diabetes or hormone medicine. Stop taking it and call a doctor if you notice a racing heartbeat, nausea, confusion or unusual thirst, and call 911 for chest pain or trouble breathing.
